Welcome back letter

Welcome back Collier students!

I would like to welcome each student back to our 2017-2018 school year. I am Mr. Escamilla, Collier’s new physical education teacher. As many of you know, I am not new to the Collier family; I am just transitioning to a new classroom.

Yes, the gym is in fact a classroom in which students will learn how to properly care for their body through exercise and proper nutrition. As in any classroom, it is important that the students come prepared each day they have P.E. Please ask your child for their schedule when they return from school Monday. I will also post the schedule on my webpage. Shorts and athletic shoes are the best attire for P.E. If your daughter chooses to wear a dress please advise them to wear shorts underneath. In regard to jewelry think safety first, any further questions you have concerning jewelry can be found in the district handbook.

Participation is a huge part of your student’s grade in P.E. Even if an activity is difficult, it is strongly encouraged that each student give their best effort. Mr. Rodriguez, Ms. Zurita, and I will do our best to encourage the students to set goals that can be reached and ultimately reach the desired classroom goal.

Our goal as physical education teachers is to provide an enjoyable environment in which the students have fun, learn healthy habits, and gain as sense of sportsmanship that will carry over into other learning disciplines.

If you have any questions for us please feel free to call the school or send us an email. Thank you, and we look forward to a wonderful school year!
