Ricopenny, Lisa

Hello My Name Is...

Lisa Ricopenny

Dyslexia Teacher

I am a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science. I also have a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading from Grand Canyon University.

I have had the rewarding experience of teaching for 28 years. I taught 3rd and 4th grade for 11 years prior to becoming a reading and dyslexia teacher. I greatly enjoy working with different grade levels to achieve the goal of improving reading, spelling and writing.

I worked as a research assistant at the UTSA Health Science center for 4 years before making a career change to teaching. It has been the best career decision for me! I enjoy working with children and seeing their educational growth.
When I am not at school, I enjoy gardening, reading and traveling with my family. I also have a great love of animals. I have fostered and adopted dogs. We currently own two Weimaraner dogs that were rescue dogs.
